It caught me off guard. I stumbled. I felt like I was doing backwards thinking, translating my Spanish in my head to English. It felt a little unnatural, it was the first time in three weeks I intentionally spoke English to a group of students. I kept beginning some of my sentences in Spanish, then paused to think about it, then spoke English. When someone asked me "a que hora?" (what time?), I said, "A las nueve....I mean, at nine." The best was when someone asked me how many volunteers I needed. I replied with "saz"....which is neither "six" or "seis." Saz. No one laughed at that one. Nope. No one.
I never thought there'd be a day where I'd have trouble speaking Inglés.
Amén.
