Son's Side Up
Day 3
My Tau cross
I've been wearing this cross for nearly four years now. Last week, the string broke, and I've felt naked without it. I finally got some string and tied it back on last night, and instantly, in this weird way, I felt better.
It's a Tau cross, a sign of St. Francis, who used to sign his letters with this Greek letter. Franciscan spirituality means a lot to me. In high school one of my favorite priests was a friar, in college, our campus ministry was run by friars, our chaplain when I was a student minister was a chaplain, and to top it off, my service program in Costa Rica was ran by Fransicans, as it was called FrancisCorps.
St. Francis said, "Preach the Gospel at all times, if necessary, use words." Wearing it is a reminder for me to to do this every day.
